I can't say I have a "favorite" wedding shot to get, but this one always speaks to me.

When I look at this image it makes me think of how many times those hands have lovingly worked hard taking care of a little girl, raising her and preparing her for this day - the day she will start a family of her own. There's a ring there that represents a legacy of love that she has not just taught, but lived.

This is what I love about wedding photography - a moment, one that would otherwise go unnoticed, is brought into focus. Images allow us to learn, enjoy, and soak in life in a unique way - it's why I do what I do.

Two of my favorite people turned into three this week! Our great friends, Jenny & Jon, welcomed their beautiful baby girl into the world & I just can't get enough of her tiny toes & cute little nose!

So, I don't know if you've heard, but we got a bit of snow here this week.

I'm not going to lie, I LOVE snow. I think my lab, Cash, loves it more though:

He kept leaping in the air and then diving in, head first.

With 20" of snow on the ground there was plenty of fun to be had (if you could stand the cold), but my favorite part of this "blizzard" was taking some very chilly pictures of our good friends Jenny & Jon and their soon-to-be-introduced bundle of joy (which thankfully remains toasty in the oven...)

I hope you all have enjoyed this slow-motion week as much as I have!

I usually adhere to a pretty strict "I'm off the clock" policy over the holidays (& other family gatherings) in an effort to focus on what's important and to not miss anything...

But then... the hectic, loud, crazy, fun, so special moments have flown by and I remember that great face my sister made when she saw the snow coming down or how no matter how old I get I will never be tired of hearing my parents read the Christmas Story... and I wish I could frame those memories. Or I find myself thinking about how much Christmas has changed for me over the years, wondering what it will be like by the time my kids are 25 and how I will ever be able to describe to them just what it was like.

So, this year I decided to document it all. I tend to be a little over-ambitious like that. I didn't quite get it all, but I do have lots of images that I'm sure will warm my heart for years to come (many thanks to my wonderful husband and oh-so-handy second shooter!)

We've been busy, busy, busy having fun and haven't posted in over a month!

I haven't posted yet about the fabulous Wade wedding because I don't have the time to adequately gush over it. Fantastic people + breath-taking location = oh my, my! Never have I seen so many people have such a wonderful time at a reception!

For now, how about just a few images from the day? Perhaps I'll find some spare time to write it up properly later.

Well, Aaron & Becca are finally hitched and we had the pleasure of documenting the day. It was a beautiful wedding, but even more importantly it was just so... THEM. To sum it up, I took a sneak peak at the reception hall before the wedding and immediately exclaimed, "It's just SO Becca!" I'm all for sneak peaks, so here's yours...

I am about to introduce you to a family that holds a special place in my heart. These aren't life-long friends or family members. I don't even know their middle names or favorite desserts, but I do know the story of how God has filled their lives with love so overflowing that they opened their hearts to a precious little boy from around the world. It has been an absolute treasure to watch, even from a distance, as this family has been knit together and to have the opportunity to get them in front of my camera was priceless.

Spring is almost here! Around this time of year I always get a little crazy anticipating the warmer weather and sunshine. I start dreaming about flip-flops and flowing dresses, green grass and daisies, beautiful blue skies and sunshine that will provide a wonderful backdrop for all the upcoming weddings! I just can't wait!

Project 127

Project 127 is a ministry of First Baptist Church, Bolivar that is committed to building a solid foundation for those involved in the journey of adoption or foster care by means of assisting, connecting, guiding, and praying. I am so excited to work with this fabulous group of people who have hearts of gold! As Project 127 is providing resources to people who are opening their hearts and homes to children who desperately need to experience love, I am honored to say Studio614 is kicking off a project of our own to help support them:

Schedule an appointment with us from now until April 30th, and $50 of your session fee will go to Project 127 to benefit adoptive and foster families.

Your child’s portrait will also be entered into the Miller's Professional Imaging Baby and Child Contest (a range of prizes will be awarded from $500 – $5,000 in cash!) as well as Studio614’s own Baby and Child contest.

Portrait sessions are limited so please call today to schedule your child's appointment!

Contest Rules: Children age twelve & under are eligible. Images must be taken between March 1st and April 30th, 2010.

We had a good time this morning with Isaac and Milo in the studio. Milo is 1 1/2 and Isaac will be turning 4 in a couple weeks. What a couple of handsome boys!

Once upon a time...

We had the pleasure today of spending some time with Princess Sophie and her brothers, Jack & Knox. We put on a little Michael Buble and they had a blast dancing it up. Knox wasn't too sure about the bright lights, but with big brother & sister there he did great! I think it's safe to say everyone had a great time. Sophie even got to wear her flower girl dress and she looked just like a princess!

I just love this family - and their wonderful smiles!

A big thank you to Maddy Jones for being my guinnea pig today! She was kind enough to "model" for me so I could test out some new equipment. With new lights, reflectors, props, stands and backdrops I didn't know what to expect. I was particularly excited to try one new look - the shiny, glittery backdrop promised to either be "oh-so-fun!" or "oh-no-what've you done?!"!

The Havens Family

Emery brought his drum set into the studio today for a fun shoot - what a talented boy! I was blown away. Isn't it fun to watch as kids grow in the talents God has blessed them with? He brought little sister Annie, Mom (Valerie) and Dad (Matt) too. We even got to play in the snow for a (very) few minutes. Here are a couple images - more to come soon!

We've got some great stuff lined up for 2010 already. There are some very special weddings this summer to look forward to, big plans for the studio, we're testing the waters in a new frontier (for Studio614 anyways): Seniors and I'll be blogging the whole way. Of course, the pictures will over-run the text on here I'm sure but after-all, a picture is worth a thousand words. Tomorrow will be our first session of 2010 and I can't wait. I know I'm in for a treat - the Havens family is such a fun bunch and Emery will be bringing his new drum set to the studio!

While we're waiting for tomorrow's fun with the Havens, isn't this the perfect time of year to reflect? I cannot believe how far we have come in 2009. In the past 12 months, Studio614 went from being just a concept - a "hopefully-one-day," to a legitimate business with an address of it's own. I must say, we've had a lot of fun along the way!
